Mother's Day

I arrived in Auckland this morning at 1.30am. Renee picked me up from the airport. It was a big surprise for my mum as she had no idea I was coming back, it was a Mother's Day surprise. I had to leave for the airport straight from work yesterday, it was hectic because traffic was bad and I only just made it in time. I was sitting in the departure lounge and I text my mum and asked her if she had received my Mother's Day present yet. She said she hadn't, and I said that she might get it in the morning.

Renee dropped me off and my brother let me into the house, it was after 2.30am by the time I actually got into my bed. I left my suitcase downstairs in the lounge, so it would be the first thing my mum would see when she woke up. Her bedroom is right next to mine and I'm surprised that I didn't wake anyone up. It was weird to be in my own bed and my own room.

In the morning, I heard my mum get up and walk down the stairs. I thought it was odd because I had closed the door to my room (as I always did when I was sleeping at home), and she didn't notice. I know that since I've left home, the door has always stayed open. I counted to five, and right on cue, I heard her running back up the hallway and up the stairs. She opened my door very very slowly and peeked her head through and she saw me, just laying there (half asleep mind you). She was so happy and screamed and gave me a hug. She asked me why I was back and I said it was because of Mother's Day of course. She said that I was such a good boy.

So I've done a good deed and it made me feel good. I also bought her a present as well (as if me not being back for two days wasn't a present in itself!). I bought her some DKNY Be Delicious soap to go with the EDT that I bought her last year. So that was good. I'm only in Auckland until tomorrow, and then I'm off back to Melbourne. Some of us have work you know!
